Summer Family Sessions at Folly Beach: The Perfect Spot for Big Family Fun
Summer is the season for beach sessions, and Folly Beach is one of my favorite places to photograph families this time of year. What a lot of people don’t realize is that it’s not just small families booking sessions. Tons of extended families use their summer vacations as a chance to get together, relax, and capture memories with a professional photo session.
Folly Beach is especially popular for these multi-family gatherings. It’s such a great spot for everyone to meet up, enjoy the ocean, and take some beautiful photos while you’re at it. I get to meet so many wonderful families every summer who are visiting for reunions or big vacations, and these sessions are always full of energy, laughter, and love.
One of the best places to shoot is Folly Beach County Park. It has the prettiest natural backdrops without a lot of houses or buildings cluttering up the background. The beach feels more open and scenic, which makes the photos look even more timeless.
A really special bonus about this spot is that you can actually get the sunset over the water. That’s pretty rare for an East Coast beach, so it’s a favorite among families who want those soft, golden-hour vibes in their pictures. The lighting can be absolutely magical in the evenings.
I had the pleasure of meeting the sweetest family back in May while they were vacationing at Folly Beach. We had such a great time during their session, full of laughs and easy moments. They were so fun to work with, and the love between them was so genuine.
